December 9, 2016

SF MARINA SYSTEMS USA, DELIVERS CONCRETE FLOATING DOCKS and FLAOTING BREAKWATER FOR NEW HYATT MARINA IN NEWPORT RI

There is a new marina in Newport RI at the Hyatt Hotel. The all-concrete marina system was, manufactured by SF Marina Systems USA/SWEDEN. The Robust marina system is design to accommodate vessels over 200’ along the 30” freeboard Mega Berth. Vessels up to 60’ that are berthed in slips have a 25” freeboard, a 19” freeboard is provided for smaller boats. Finally a sloped sport dock with a 6” freeboard accommodates kayaks, paddleboards and PWC.

A Type 400 Floating breakwater (13.12’ wide) was cast in a single 82’ section and is moored on (7) 18” socketed piles to resist the wave load. The marina’s features include: internal pile guides, solid concrete angled fingers with rounded ends, 5 and 10 ton stainless steel bollards, 3 phase power, and a in-slip pump out system with under-deck waste hydrants.

The SF Type 1000, 1500, and 400 were utilized in this project, all single cast solid concrete floating structures, designed and customized for the site conditions and requirements. The units are constructed from reinforced concrete and styrofoam, for superior strength, stability and buoyancy. They are engineered to last decades and handle harsh conditions, requiring little maintenance.

Reagan Construction of the Newport RI was the installing contractor, and Harbor Engineering of Barrington RI was the Engineer for the project.
